Welcome to the 2019 Australian and Queensland Mountain Running Championships at Camp Mountain. This event on 15 September provides the selection races for the Australian Mountain Running Team 2019, which will compete at the World Mountain Running Championships in Argentina (Villa La Angostura) on 15 November 2019 – in the short or ‘classic’ distance. 

 

The Australian and Queensland Championships are a collaboration between Athletics Australia, the Australian Mountain Running Association, Queensland Athletics and the Trail Running Association of Queensland, with TRAQ being the event organiser and host.

Two of the races at comprise of the Junior Championship races of 9km, one for young men and one for young women, aged between 16 and 20 years old.

 

Two of the races comprise of the Open Championship races of 14km one for men and one for women aged 20 years and older, which incorporate the Masters categories.

 

There is one non-championship race using the Junior course; 9kms for men and women aged 16 and older.

 

Whether you're an experienced mountain runner or trying it for the first time, this event is for you!

 

It is the same course as used in 2015, with 700m of steep technical trail added towards the end of the race. Otherwise, the course is fast and allows athletes to go at maximum effort.
