The Race Beginnings
The Run Queensland team had a dream of having a 100km event on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk.
Temperatures in the low 30’s made the going tough (just the way we like it). First male across the line was Ben Gerhardy in 10:42 and first female was Shona Stephenson in 10:59.
One of the special features of the race, are the amazing volunteers at our Checkpoints. The volunteers are the backbone of the race. They ensure that all of the competitors are fed, watered and looked after. Other highlights include spectacular views and pristine rainforest.
The Blackall 100 has since moved dates and is now held on the penultimate weekend in October. The race has steadily grown and has been recognised for its toughness and technical trail, being awarded the Australian National Long Course Championships and also becoming a Western States Endurance Run qualifying race for 2017.
The team at Run Queensland are extremely proud of the Blackall 100 and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.
The 2018 Blackall100 will be held on Saturday 20th October.
